Will you brave the cold to help the homeless?
Join Open Door for the St Albans Sleepout at home – come and brave the cold and help a homeless person keep warm.
Sleepout at Home has been created to replace our annual St Albans Sleepout that was supposed to take place at Oaklands College this year. Unfortunately, due to the current circumstances, we have had to change the event into a virtual one instead. With cancellation of fundraising events throughout the year, we really need you now more than ever! We hope to welcome as many people as possible to our online event and raise much needed funds.
All you need to do is pitch a tent in the garden, make a bed out of cardboard or take to the sofa for the evening. It is completely up to you how you want to sleepout and you can be as creative as you like. Just have your friends and family sponsor you for your challenge and you could help so many homeless people. Started by the Abbey and the Diocese in the 1990s, the sleepout has raised hundreds of thousands for the homeless charities taking part and we hope to continue that this year.
We will also be hosting a live virtual zoom event as part of the evening with music and entertainment. With your help, we can make Sleepout at Home on November 20th a huge success and make a real difference to vulnerable people across Hertfordshire this winter.
We continue to help vulnerable people who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. We also run the award winning volunteer led Winter Beds Project providing emergency bed spaces in extreme weather. With your support and sponsorship, we can continue our vital work.
Come and join us – Wrap up warm, brave the cold and help us raise money and improve awareness of homelessness.
We start at 7pm on Friday 20th November and finish at 7am the next morning.
